Laurin Letterhead

Dear Laurin Middle School Families,

It is with great pride that I welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Laurin Middle School. Whether your family is joining us for the first time or returning for another year, we are honored to work alongside you to support your child’s learning and growth.

This year marks my 25th year as an educator, and my passion for teaching and learning is as strong as ever. For 13 of those years, I was a classroom teacher and coach, and for the last 12  years, I have served as an administrator.  I believe that education is a lifelong journey—one that opens doors, helps students grow as people, and gives them the tools to shape their future. I am committed to making sure every student has what they need to succeed, and I believe regular school attendance is a key part of that success. Being in class every day helps students stay connected, learn with their peers, and keep up with the pace of learning. I also believe in teaching resilience—helping students learn how to face challenges, adapt, and keep moving forward.

Our theme this year is The Year of the Lion. The lion stands for courage, strength, and unity—qualities we want to help our students build. Just as a pride of lions works together, our school community grows stronger when students, families, and staff work toward the same goals.

Middle school is an important time for learning and personal growth. At LMS, we work hard to provide a learning environment that challenges students academically while also supporting them socially and emotionally. These years help students build strong thinking skills, good study habits, and the social skills they will carry into high school and beyond.

Please mark your calendar for these important dates:

  • Meet and Greet for 5th grade, CBC and new to LMS students- August 21, 2025, 5:00pm-6:00pm

Kind regards,

Kelly Torrez
