Battle Ground School District Announcements:

In the event of inclement weather:

New Two-Hour Late Starts

First, we have changed late-starts this year to two hours. That means that if a late start is called, your bus will arrive two hours later for pickup and school will begin two hours later than the regular start time. School late start times are listed on the district website at http://www.battlegroundps.org/home/hours.  Laurin Middle School late start hours will be 10:15 am.

Weather Information Guide & 5:30 a.m. Phone Calls

A flyer is attached to this email that contains details about weather-related closures and late start notification. In case of a school closure or late start, we begin calling families about 5:30 a.m. Please update your child's contact information on Skyward or with your school so that we can notify you in the event of a change in the school schedule due to inclement weather. Additional weather information is on the district website.


Thanksgiving Break:
Wednesday, November 22nd, through Friday, November 24th is the Thanksgiving Break.  There is no school and the Laurin office will be closed.


General Announcements:


Laurin Canned Food Drive
Laurin is participating in a canned food drive for North County Food Bank.  The grade level that brings in the most cans between 11/27/2017 and 12/11/2017 will win a prize (details are to be determined).  


Laurin Yearbook Presale
Yearbook Presale in progress.  Yearbooks purchased prior to winter break will get the free name stamp.  Cost is $27.  Please see the order form attached.  Please make checks payable to Laurin MS or exact cash.


Laurin ASB Announcements:

ASB Bake Sale/ PTO Winter Bazaar: (See Flyer)
Our ASB is running a bake sale at the PTO Bazaar on Nov. 18.  We will be selling prepackaged, donated baked goods for $1 each and are also looking to do Italian sodas via donations of supplies.  

If you would like to donate baked goods or supplies for Italian sodas, we would greatly appreciate it!   You may bring your donations to me (Laurin Office) on Friday, Nov. 17 (Please see the flyer) 


ASB Gobble Gram Sale:
ASB Gobble Grams for sale during lunch; delivered Tuesday, 11/21/2017.  Grams are 25 cents or 50 cents if you wish to be anonymous.


ASB Fall/Holiday Fundraiser:
The fundraiser order forms and money are due November 17th.  The purpose of the fundraiser is to support the Laurin Associated Student Body (ASB) to provide student activities such has school socials, field trips, etc.
    • The order forms and money are due 11/17/2017.
    • Laurin is not part of the online sales.  Only cash or check are accepted.  Please make checks payable to Laurin MS.

ASB Volleyball-a-thon applications 
  • Applications are available in the office due Friday, 11/17
  • Students are to decide on teams of at least 6 students.  Pick a team captain.  Each student is to have parent permission and $10.00.  
  • Applications and permission due November 17th.  
  • November 30th is the Volleyball-a-thon event after school 2:45 - 5:00pm.  Parents are required to pick up students or arrange for pick up at the end of the event.


PTO Announcements:

PTO Annual Winter Bazaar:  Saturday, November 18th 10:00 am - 3:00 pm (See flyer)
