General School Announcements:


September 21st:  Curriculum Night 5:30 pm - 7 pm

Please join us!  All parent, guardians, and students are invited to attend Curriculum Night, Thursday, September 21st 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  Please see the agenda attached.  This is a great opportunity to meet your student's teachers, understand what goes on in class, and learn expectations.  This is also a great time to visit the office to sign up for family access, if you have not done so already.


ROAR - Reach Out and Read:  You're Invited, Thursday, March 16th
ROAR is an acronym for Reach Out And Read.  For the 2017/2018 School Year, R.O.A.R will be during Enhancement Class 8:15 am - 8:43 am.  We will have 28 minutes for all students, staff (teachers, principals, office staff, custodians, parents, and classroom assistants), parents, and volunteers to pick up their favorite book to read for an uninterrupted 20 minutes.  Everyone is given the opportunity to discuss and share what they are reading in the last 8 minutes of the period.  We would like to invite our parents to come join their students on the future ROAR days.  So bring your favorite book and join your students in the Laurin ROAR reading event.  Please mark your calendar:
 All scheduled times for ROAR is 8:15 am - 8:35 am followed by discussion 8:35 am - 8:43 am.

Book Fair

Mark you calendars, the Laurin Book Fair starts, Thursday, 9/21/2017 and runs through Wednesday, 9/21/2017.  The book fair will also be open during Curriculum night 5:15 pm - 7:15 pm.  Please see the flyer attached.



After School Activities

The Laurin Fall After School Activities start Tuesday, October 10th and runs to Thursday November 9th.  These activities are on Tuesdays/Thursday after school 2:45 pm to 4:15 pm.  Bus transportation is available for students with parent permission slip.  Please see the attached permission slip.  Students are to sign up for an activity.  Permission slips are due to the office September 25th Note:  There are no activities on the early release days.



Yearbook:


Yearbook Applications Available:

Applications are now available for students for the 2017/2018 Yearbook Club.  Completed applications are due to Ms. Jennifer Frahm by 9/20/2017.  The application is also attached.


Laurin PTO:


 PTO Fundraiser:  Fitness for Fine Arts

 The PTO is looking for two volunteers to help on September 22nd for 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm to assist in the Fitness for Fine Arts.

 Laurin Middle School’s 2017 “Fitness for Fine Arts” is on Friday, September 22, 2017.   This is a PTO sponsored event for the Laurin Band and Visual Arts Departments.  Participating students will walk/run laps to raise funds.   “Fitness for Fine Arts” will take place rain or shine from 2:00p.m. - 2:45 p.m.on 09/22/17.   There is a minimum required donation/fundraising commitment of $5.00 in order to participate.   Please see the attached form.  This form is due with parent signature no later than Monday, September 18, 2017.  

 PTO – General Information

 "We love our Laurin Staff!  Please let us know if you would like to help the PTO in showing how much the staff makes a difference in our children's lives.  We have set aside a small budget to assist families who would like to volunteer once a month to send a small token of thanks to the Laurin staff, this can be baked goods, homemade cards, small gifts, anything your family would like to do!  

Please email laurinpto@gmail.com if you'd like to volunteer will let you know the budget and sign you up for a month!  Thank you! 

 PTO Meeting

We also have a PTO meeting.  Calling all new volunteers!  This meeting is a great chance to meet Laurin staff, and other LMS teachers, and see how you can make a difference this school year!
